Unboxing
The box here comes in this familiar color as that on the Camon 17. Within the box is the smartphone itself which you get to see first. The items inside the box of the Camon 17P include an 18 watts fast charter, a micro USB connector (it’s 2021 TECNO please change your ways), an earphone, a SIM injection tool, a warranty sticker, and a jelly TPU case. And that’s about all you get from within the box.
Design and build
Now, the design you see on this phone is the same one as what is on Tecno Camon 17 from 2020, this one has some award-winning looks. Going over to the rail of the smartphone is a long camera module. Obviously design we are now familiar with. Housing the triple camera configuration with its LED flash. This actually looks like four cameras though, but what we got here is three. Besides, that like a fingerprint sensor down the back is a 3D CAMON branding.
The top of the Camon 17P smartphone is clean and the bottom houses the mouthpiece, 3.5-millimeter headphone port, and micro USB 2.0 port, and also that down-firing speaker grill. You also get the volume rocker on the power button (side-mounted fingerprint scanner) on the right hand side. And the dual SIM tray comes with a dedicated micro SD card slot that can be spotted to the left side of the smartphone.
Upgraded camera
Photos here look true to life are sharper and have a better level of saturation. Separation from the background is up there for the smartphone and takes very much usable portrait shots. The front-facing camera on the other hand is a 16-megapixel sensor which does a decent job in terms of the camera. Super night mode brings back details to images you would otherwise find useless with a regular AI cam mode. And that’s a good thing! Performance
As far as specs are concerned, Tecno Camon 17P offers 6 gigabytes of RAM, 128 GB of internal storage, and the MediaTek G85 processor which can be compared to the Snapdragon 662 and benchmark scores than the latter. The G85 is a nice gaming processor for entry-level devices actually. As far as multitasking, there’s nothing really to complain about, especially for a 4 gigabyte RAM device.
